A MAN has been arrested after an 18-year-old woman was hurt in a hit-and-run in Stourbridge.

The victim was hit by a BMW in Junction Road at around 3.25pm yesterday (Monday June 27).

The driver of the car ran off.

Police said today (Tuesday) they have arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.

He has been released under investigation.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to Junction Road, Stourbridge yesterday, at around 3.25pm following a collision.

"A woman was hit by a BMW before the driver of the car left the scene on foot.

"The 18-year-old woman was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

"A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.

"He was later released under investigation.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to get in touch via Live Chat quoting log 2391 of 27 June."

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and pedestrian on Junction Road at 3.23pm and sent one ambulance to the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a woman, who was the pedestrian.

"Following treatment at the scene she was taken to Russell’s Hall Hospital."
