A REVISED planning application has been submitted to build nine homes on green belt land in Alvechurch.
The site off Withybed Lane was previously subject to a planning application for ten homes but was refused last July as it was considered “an inappropriate development on green belt land”.
Now, applicant Chris Brian, is seeking outline permission for nine homes that will “provide a selection of high-quality new buildings that would meet the needs of future generations.”
The design and access statement notes: “The proposal would result in a sustainable form of development, would not harm highway safety or efficiency, would make a positive contribution to the character of the area and would sufficiently protect neighbouring living conditions.
“Furthermore, the proposal would not result in an unacceptable impact on ecological assets.
“Importantly, it will also be demonstrated that the proposal would not harm the openness of the green belt or conflict with the purposes of the green belt.
“The site and surrounding area has a built-up character with good connections to services and is a sustainable location despite being within the green belt.”
Planning documents also state that two bus stops located on Birmingham Road are 850m from the site entrance and Alvechurch village is around 0.85km from the site.
Therefore, the “future occupiers would not be unduly reliant on private transport.”
Access to the site is prosed off Withybed Lane, but the existing field access will be removed and a new access point will be created at the centre of the site to improve visibility.
If the proposals are approved, detailed design plans will be provided at a later date when a further application is submitted.
