A PENSIONER has been targeted by rogue traders in Rubery.

On Friday, July 15 a van pulled up outside the home address of an elderly man.

The occupants of the van informed the homeowner that he needed thousands of pounds of work done to his roof.

The homeowner believing this went to his local bank to draw out the cash and the bank became suspicious and alerted the police.

An officer from the Hagley and Rubery Safer Neighbourhood Team went to talk to the elderly man and confront the roofers, however, they had left the scene.

West Mercia Police has issued some advice to prevent people from being scammed.

They said: “Rogue traders can come across very believable and friendly. Don't be fooled, they simply want your money.

“If any persons attend your home address citing to be a trades persons offering to carry out work my advice is to refuse their offer."
