NEARLY £1,000 has been raised for two charities after a celebration concert was held in St John’s Church, Bromsgrove.

Town Crier Kevin Ward, who organised the concert, raised £960 from donations received from the audience and those who could not attend.

The Orchestra of St John performed several pieces chosen by Kevin to celebrate his parent's love for music.

Kevin said: "I've been on cloud nine since the wonderful concert in St John's.

“Whilst it was more stressful than I had anticipated to organise it, the result was magnificent!

“My very grateful thanks must go to the OSJ, leader Shulah Oliver and conductor Richard Jenkinson for indulging me with a programme which included favourite pieces in my family.

“And of course, thanks go to the wonderful audience for their voices and generous donations."

The money raised from the concert has been split between The Friends of St John's and the Norton Collection Museum.
