BROMSGROVE RFC took on some tough and illustrious opponents at the Ledbury Charity 7s tournament.

The tournament included the Samurai and Marauders teams along with club sides from Stourbridge, Rugby Lions and Bridgend.

Skipper Dan Ingram led the team out for a tough opening pool match against the Army where they lost 5-0, but the team put in a strong defensive performance against much more experienced opponents.

In the second match, the team went two tries up against Oxford University through Oli Burton and Sam Bastock.

The University, however, fought back in the second-half to take the game 4-2 and eliminate the Boars.

The Boars travel to the Moseley 7s on Saturday.

Former England hooker Brian Moore will be the guest speaker at Bromsgrove RFC's summer business lunch at Finstall Park on Friday June 13.

The event, which kicks off the club's summer fundraising extravaganza, also features a performance from comedian Ged Stone.

Local businesses are invited to attend, with prices set at £500 plus VAT for a table of ten people.

The following day (June 14), the club holds its summer ball, which features music from the Ron Jeremy Band and the Taylormade Band.

Tickets are £50 per person and there will be a disco in the clubhouse until 2pm.

To buy tickets for either event, call Mark Leech on 07946393192 or email mleech@ccsg.uk.com.

Finally on Sunday June 15, there will be a free funday at the club, which includes children's entertainment among a host of other activities.
