A PUB and a restaurant in Bromsgrove have been awarded new food hygiene ratings.

The Golden Lion, a pub on Austin Road was given a four-out-of-five food hygiene rating after an assessment on August 19.

It means that of Bromsgrove's 62 pubs, bars, and nightclubs with ratings, 43 have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.

During an inspection, food safety officers rate the business in three areas; hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and management of food safety.

The Golden Lion was found to have ‘satisfactory’ management of food safety but was rated ‘good’ in the other two areas.

Meanwhile, Canto Mando Chinese Restaurant at 44 Worcester Road was given the maximum score of five-out-of-five after an assessment on September 2.

It means that of Bromsgrove's 93 restaurants, cafes, and canteens with ratings, 61 have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
