PUPILS at both Catshill Middle and First School are ‘happy’ and ‘feel safe’ say Ofsted inspectors.

Catshill Middle School and Catshill First School Nursery which share a governing body and an executive headteacher have been rated ‘Good’ after a recent inspection by Ofsted.

The education watchdog has praised Catshill Middle for its sense of community and according to their report, pupils ‘speak positively about the school’.

The report says: “Pupils’ well-being is at the forefront of leaders’ vision.

“Parents and carers say leaders show ‘compassion’ for pupils.

“Pupils’ behaviour and attitudes are highly respectful and positive.

“Bullying is rare. When it does happen, staff deal with it firmly.

“Pupils feel safe among their peers and say that staff support them very well.”

Meanwhile, an inspection report for Catshill First School and Nursery says it is ‘a friendly school with kindness at its heart’.

The report adds: “The motto ‘where individuals matter’ is evident everywhere. There is an ethos of valuing everyone.

“Most parents and carers are positive about the school. This includes parents who have children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).”

A spokesperson for both schools said: “The whole of the Catshill community can be delighted that their local schools have secured ‘Good’ outcomes.

“The schools, which are federated and have a shared Governing Body and Executive Headteacher, work together as the Catshill Learning Community.

“This ensures that high expectations and support for children to achieve is there for pupils from the age of 3 (in nursery) to age 13 (in Year 8).

“Paul Essenhigh, executive headteacher could not be more proud of the two staff teams that tirelessly strive to support the children and families in their care.

“Both schools are now well positioned to welcome new children in September 2023.”
