A NATIONAL housebuilder has sponsored a vital Age UK scheme in Bromsgrove.

Barratt Homes West Midlands has continued its support for Age UK’s much much-valued group – Bromsgrove Men in Sheds.

The first ‘Bromsgrove Shed’ was set up in The Craft Centre at Stoke Prior in December 2015 before the group moved to its current larger premises on the Metal and Ores Industrial estate, in April 2016.

Jo Hughes at Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest, said: “On behalf of Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest and the Bromsgrove Shedders, I would like to thank Barratt Homes West Midlands for its support for Bromsgrove Men In Sheds.

“Not only does the Shed support individuals by providing friendship, a sense of purpose and helping to prevent and tackle loneliness and social isolation, but the Bromsgrove Shed also benefits the wider community, by getting involved in a range of community projects.

“However, for the Shed to continue, we need the support of local businesses and organisations, which is why we are so grateful to Barratt Homes for continuing its Shed Share Sponsorship.”

Following the sponsorship renewal, Tony Din, sales adviser at Barratt Homes, visited the Shed, where he was able to learn more about the projects and activities undertaken in the community.

Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest launched its annual Shed Share Sponsorship Scheme in 2018 to help support the cost of running and developing its much-valued group.

Adrian Evans, managing director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said: “As a leading developer, it is important we support and improve the surrounding communities in which we build, through collaborations with organisations and charities in the area.

“That’s why we were delighted to continue our support for Men in Sheds with our sponsorship renewal and, ultimately, aid the maintenance and development of the charity.”
