A main road in Bromsgrove which has been closed for several days due to a water leak is due to reopen later today (January 30).

The A38 Redditch Road has been closed between Puddlewharf Island and Hanbury Road due to a major water leak.

The road which was closed on January 26 was expected to reopen on Saturday afternoon (January 28).

Worcestershire Highways say ‘despite promises’ contractors from Severn Trent did not complete reinstatement works on the road over the weekend.

There was heavy traffic in the area this morning and motorists were urged to find alternative routes.

According to Worcestershire Highways once the tarmac has been cured sufficiently the road will reopen.

Severn Trent has apologised for the delay.
