A FAMILY-run Indian restaurant said it is thrilled and honoured to have won a prestigious award during 'hard times.' 

Vasaanti on High Street, Droitwich, has been welcoming customers through its doors for the past three and a half years and the menu is known for its quirky East meets West fusion-style food. 

Loyal customers nominated Vasaanti for the Restaurant Guru Award 2023 and left the team feeling surprised and honoured to hear they had won.

Restaurant Guru is one of the world's most popular food websites with over 30 million monthly users and the awards are based on customer reviews.

Akbar Miah, manager for eight months, said: "We feel very good about the award, it helps the business and at the moment, during hard times, it is a lift for the business.

"People nominated us, it came as a surprise, we didn't know we had been nominated. 

"It's the first time we have won an award like this."

The family, which also runs India Spice, in Bromsgrove.

 Mr Miah, 46, said this is the first time they have won an award of this scale. 

A post on Facebook said: "We are thrilled and honoured to announce that our restaurant has been awarded the prestigious Restaurant Guru Award 2023!

"It's an incredible achievement that wouldn't have been possible without our wonderful team and our loyal customers.

"Thank you for your continued support and for choosing us as your go-to dining destination.

"We promise to keep serving up delicious food and providing top-notch service. Cheers to a fantastic year ahead!"

Fans of the eatery were keen to show their support in the comments and one said: "Congratulations to you all on your success." 

A second praised the diner and said: "best one around." 

Another fan said: "Congratulations, so well deserved as your food is fab."

A megafan commented: "So well deserved my favourite curry house"

The comments applauded the team for their hard work and said the team thoroughly deserved the award.
