Jess Phillips MP is coming to Worcestershire this weekend.

The shadow Home Office minister will visit Droitwich as part of the Mid Worcestershire Constituency Labour Party’s election campaign launch.

This comes ahead of the Wychavon District Council and town and parish council elections in the area.

Councillor Alan Humphries, leader of the Labour group on Droitwich Spa Town Council, is optimistic about his party’s chances.

He said: “Since 2015 the Labour Party in Mid Worcestershire has had no Councillors on Wychavon District Council and only two town councillors in Droitwich.

“Our conversations when we've been out and about have been very encouraging with local people telling us they want to see change.

“For the first time in a long time, we've reason to feel positive.”

Ms Phillips, MP for Birmingham Yardley since 2015, will be the guest speaker at the campaign launch at Norbury Theatre, on Friar Street.

The event begins at 11am on Saturday, April 1, and runs for two hours.
