BROMSGROVE Liberal Democrats have set out their plans if they were to take control of the council after next month’s elections.

Currently, the Lib Dems have three seats on Bromsgrove District Council and have put forward 21 candidates for their election campaign.

Among the candidates is Suzanne Nicholl standing for Alvechurch South, Martine Reynolds for Aston Fields, and David Nicholl for Avoncroft.

Siobhan Robinson is hoping to hold her Bromsgrove Central seat, Barbara Murphy is standing for Catshill South and David Nicklin is standing for Cofton.

Sara Woodhouse is hoping to snatch Hill Top ward from the Conservatives and Janet King is hoping to hold her Lickey Hills seat.

Josh Robinson is hoping to take the Lowes Hill seat from the current Conservative council chairman Rod Laight and Rob Hunter is hoping to be re-elected for Norton.

Joanna Mckenna is standing for Perryfields, Vanessa Verlinden for Sanders Park and James Clarke is standing for Sidemoor.

Sam Evans is standing for Slideslow and Valerie Clarke is standing for Tardebigge.

Martine Reynolds, Lib Dem candidate for Aston Fields said: "We need to revitalise our town centre.

“The Lib Dems are campaigning to improve our town centre with new street furniture, heritage lighting and new modern bus shelters.

“We would also modernise car parks with improved lighting and more EV points whilst closing and redeveloping car parks that are out of use."

Sam Evans, Lib Dem candidate for Slideslow said: "To improve the footfall of our evening economy, a Lib Dem led council will reopen Artrix and ensure that a sustainable financial plan is in place to ensure its success.

“We have a plan to subsidise Artrix £92,000 per year.

“The council used to subside Artrix £61,000 per year.

“Artrix sadly closed shortly after the Conservative run council withdrew the subsidy.”
