THE Green Party are calling on Bromsgrove District Council and the government to ‘work harder’ to solve the housing crisis as their local election candidates are revealed.

In their “Right Homes, Right Place, Right Price Charter” the Greens are proposing steps that they say would protect valuable green space for communities, reduce climate emissions, tackle fuel poverty, and provide genuinely affordable housing.

Local Green Party spokesperson Jill Harvey said: “We’re delighted to unveil our team of fantastic candidates ready to represent communities across Bromsgrove.

“When you vote Green on Thursday 4th May, you’ll be helping to elect hardworking councillors committed to making our town a fairer, greener community.”

The Greens have put forward nine councillors to stand across the wards in the Bromsgrove elections.

Martin Ball is standing for Alvechurch Village, while Nick Trow is standing for Aston Fields, and Jill Harvey is hoping to be selected for Cofton.

Matt Tovey is hoping to swipe the Drakes Cross seat from independent councillor Sue Baxter, as is Susan Robbins in Hagley West while Peter Harvey is standing for Marlbrook.

Lee Rowley is hoping to take the Rock Hill seat away from Labour, while Julian Gray is standing in Rubery South and John Smout is standing in Tardebigge.

Peter Harvey said: “Everyone deserves a place that they can call home.

“That’s why we want to see changes across the housing sector, to create fairer, greener communities.

“Many residents are faced with homes that are unaffordable to buy, unaffordable to rent and unaffordable to heat.”
