A CAR, which had a ‘large number of cannabis plants inside’, crashed into railings in Alvechurch after a police chase.

Just before 10.45pm on Saturday, April 22, police identified two cars, which were believed to have been stolen, travelling in convoy on the Alvechurch Highway.

The cars then failed to stop for officers, which led to a police chase.

One car then crashed into railings on Red Lion Street, Alvechurch and the occupants fled the scene.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “Shortly before 10.45pm on Saturday 22 April officers identified two cars, travelling in convoy on the A441 Alvechurch Highway, which were both believed to be stolen.  Both cars failed to stop and were pursued by police.

“One car came to a stop when it collided with street furniture on Red Lion Street in Alvechurch.  The occupants were uninjured and fled the scene.

“The pursuit of the second car continued but had to be abandoned when it drove off-road.

“Both vehicles have been seized and enquiries are underway to find the occupants.”
