SCAMMERS are targeting pub customers entering a competition to find the cutest dog

Fraudsters have been attempting to con customers at The Swan in Martin Hussingtree through a Facebook competition.

The pub near Droitwich is running a contest where the cutest dog of the month will bag its owners a free drink and meal.

However, several scammers have set up fake accounts and messaged customers claiming they have won and to click on a link.

The pub has now reassured its customers that it would never give them a link to click or ask for any card details.

A member from Team Swan will also contact winners for the Dog of the Month directly.

A spokesperson for The Swan at Martin Hussingtree said: "As many of you know, we run a dog of the month competition, sadly at the weekend, our Facebook page was targeted by several scammers which resulted in everyone being told they had won and to click on a link.

"We would like to stress that we would never ask you to click on a link or enter any card details.

"If you are a winner, then a member of Team Swan will contact you directly."

Kian Morgan, age 23, is the newest manager of The Swan and has been trying to improve the pub's rating while also getting involved within the community.

The Dog of the Month contest is just one of the many events he has decided to set up.

The pub also has special appearances from Too Hoots Bird Rescue - the pub's chosen charity - and hosts seasonal events like Easter egg hunts and live music.

Mr Morgan wished to lure back old customers and welcome new people to the pub with a free drink offer to those who visited, but this became so overwhelmingly popular that he had to stop it.

The next live music event at the pub will feature Sean Jeffery, from Worcester, who will cover a range of songs, including some of his own.
