A ‘WELL-KNOWN’ former Bromsgrove Sporting director has died.

Pete O’Connell, who became a director of Sporting in the early 2000s, died aged 89 on Sunday, June 4.

Paying tribute to Pete, the club said: “Pete was very well-known to many people within the football community not just in Bromsgrove but across a wide area.

“Pete acted for a number of years as the physio for Bromsgrove Rovers, particularly during their heyday in the Bobby Hope era.

“He then became a director of Rovers in the early 2000s and a founding member of Bromsgrove Sporting Supporters Society serving as the chairman and more recently as the president.

“Pete was appointed as a Society representative on the board of Bromsgrove Sporting and carried out that role diligently from 2014 to 2019.

“Pete was a familiar face around the Victoria Ground and will be missed by everyone who knew him.”

Bromsgrove Sporting say they are in contact with Pete’s family and further details including funeral arrangements will be posted online when they are available.

Anyone who is wanting to send personal condolences to the family is asked to email the club’s secretary Phil Baker at phil@bromsgrovesporting.co.uk who will supply the contact information.
