He explained that a couple should “never go to bed on an argument” and always share experiences and feelings with their partner.

Martyn Davies, aged 81 gave a speech at an event held at a Bromsgrove care home, Burcot Grange and Lodge, to mark his 60th wedding anniversary with his wife Gloria, aged 80 on June 24, 2023.

The home, which is part of the Berkley Care Group, invited Martyn and Gloria’s family and friends to celebrate their milestone.

The couple first met in 1959 at Laura Dixson’s dance hall in Birmingham when Martyn and Gloria were 19 and 18 respectively.

The hall was a popular social hub in the 1950s.

Martyn proposed to Gloria in her family home in 1961.

They exchanged vows shortly before Gloria turned 21 and were joined by their families at The Hollybush in Quinton.
