Film and television production companies are being encouraged to use locations in Worcestershire.

A new Film Office has been launched in a bid to attract filmmakers, production companies and the creative support industries.

The project is being led by location managers FAME Pro with the support of Visit Worcestershire.

The launch of Worcestershire’s first-ever Film Office took place on Thursday, June 29 at Avoncroft Museum.

The new service will act as a one-stop-shop to all filming requirements in Worcestershire, working with local authorities, locations and suppliers to ensure the correct permits are in place and that the production runs as smoothly as possible.

TV and film generate huge exposure, often giving locations and destinations further publicity creating more visitor interest.

Visit England data shows one in five people decide where they are going on holiday based on a film, TV location or because of screen-based marketing.

Visit Worcestershire hopes the project will increase Worcestershire’s profile as a visitor destination and follow in the footsteps of other destinations in the UK benefitting from film tourism.

Councillor Marc Bayliss, cabinet member for economy, infrastructure and skills at Worcestershire County Council, said: “I am delighted that this new project has launched to support film production in Worcestershire.

“The new initiative will help increase the profile of the county as a film-friendly destination, creating further economic benefits for local suppliers and supporting our existing network of creative industries generating further opportunities.”
