A CONSULTATION has been launched for the second phase of the huge Perryfields housing estate in Bromsgrove.

Taylor Wimpey is now in the early stages of preparing proposals for around 430 homes on land off Perryfields Road which is phase two of the overall site.

Of the new homes, 32 per cent will be classed as affordable housing in line with local policy requirements, equating to around 137 homes.

Back in August 2021, outline planning permission for the overall development of up to 1300 homes, a school, a local centre and an extra care facility was passed on appeal by the Planning Inspectorate.

Earlier this week, a planning application for phase one of the development which consists of 149 homes was turned down by Bromsgrove District Council’s planning committee on highways grounds after concerns were raised about a spine road.

Taylor Wimpey will hold a public consultation to seek the views of residents and stakeholders on the latest phase from July 18 until July 30.

Helen Chard, land and planning director for Taylor Wimpey North Midlands, said: “Gathering the views of the local community is a vital stage in the development process and we are keen to hear what residents living near the site think of our current proposals.

“This is the second phase of our Perryfields development and whilst we know that residents will be aware of the plans to date, we now want to seek feedback on our latest proposals.”

People will also get the chance to speak to the project team in person during a public exhibition in the Fairfield Suite at the Holiday Inn Bromsgrove, Kidderminster Road, B61 9AB, from 3pm until 7pm on Tuesday, July 18.

The development will be completed in five phases over several years.
