CARE company Home Instead Stourbridge has been running a series of free Dementia Friends sessions to help people learn more about the condition and how to support a loved one living with it.
The company is now offering to host sessions with local businesses whose teams would benefit.
Recent sessions have been held at a local medical practice and solicitors’ office. Members of the public can also benefit from dementia awareness workshops.
Anyone interested can register their details with Home Instead in Stourbridge and they will be added to the list for the next session which will run at the home care company’s offices in Hagley.
The Dementia Friends initiative, backed by the government, aims to increase dementia awareness and change the way the nation thinks about the condition.
A ‘Dementia Friend’ is someone who has attended an hour-long information session and has committed to an action that will make the lives of people living with dementia better.
Peter Bath, owner of Home Instead Stourbridge, said: “You can never know enough about dementia. It affects everyone in different ways and there is always something new to learn. We’re hoping our Dementia Friends sessions are just the beginning of making the community a better place for people living with dementia.
