Bromsgrove artists are amongst those taking part in Worcestershire Open Studios - the county’s largest free annual art event.

Between August 19-28, artists and makers will be welcoming the public into their studios, giving behind the scenes access into how they create their art.

There is a diverse range of artwork on show including painting, sculpture, printmaking, jewellery, ceramics, photography, textiles and woodworking.

This year the event has more studios then ever to visit - 97 venues will showcase 128 artists, including nine artists in Bromsgrove and the north of the county.

Abstract artist and acrylic painter Joe Eccles, painters Michelle Doidge and Gillian Simpson, Lappelli Craft Studio with fused glass artwork, are all in Bromsgrove.

Painter Suzanne Nicholl is in Hagley.

In Bellbroughton visitors can meet Edwina Mackinnon a mixed media painter and textile artist and Julie Marcus a painter and mixed media artist. Anne Guest an artist using the cyanotype process and Jane Aston painter are both in Alvechurch.

Joe Eccles said: “I’m looking forward to letting you explore my paintings - with as much, or as little input from me as you prefer.

"Canvases of varying sizes will be available to buy, alongside items like mugs with my art designs. I’ll be painting intermittently so there will be works-in-progress to see and you can learn more about my art process and what inspires me."

Richard Nicholls, from Worcestershire Open Studios, said: “Following the success of last year’s longer event, this year’s will again be open over 10 days.

“This gives everyone more opportunity to see the artists taking part.”
