HERE are the criminals jailed for the most serious crimes in Worcestershire during June.

Alan Edney, 31, who beat his partner to death before dumping her body was jailed after being convicted of her murder.

Edney, of Kenilworth Road, Birmingham, killed Kerry Owen before dumping her body in a ditch in Hopwood, which he attempted to conceal with grass cuttings.

A police investigation began as soon as Kerry’s body was discovered which promptly unravelled his lies and he was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Edney was found guilty of the murder of Kerry Owen after a four-week trial and he received a life sentence, serving a minimum of 20 years in prison.

Thug Robbie Wells, of Donaldson Court, Worcester, who kicked his former partner in the stomach causing her to fracture her leg and leaving her unable to walk properly was sent to prison.

The 43-year-old who was described as having an "appalling criminal record" of violence against others, carried out the sickening attack on a former partner in Worcester in December last year. 

Wells was jailed for four-and-a-half years.

Mhill Asani, 30, of Chestnut Street, Worcester, has been jailed for his part in a large drug operation at a city house.

Police discovered 104 cannabis plants and bags of dried cannabis in four rooms, 157 seedling plants in the cellar, £125 in cash, brand new trainers worth £114, fertilisers, heat lamps and fans at the city property. 

Asani was jailed for a year but the court heard he now faces deportation as he was in the country illegally.

Drunk thug Scott Beard, who assaulted a child, was jailed for 30 months. 

Beard, of  Princes Drive, Diglis, Worcester, punched the child in the chest with a clenched fist on October 9, 2021.

The judge said he could not suspend the sentence as only immediate custody was appropriate in his case.
