POLICE in Bromsgrove have revealed a driver they stopped after witnessing him using his mobile phone tried to insure his vehicle during the traffic stop.

PC Edward Maher, of Bromsgrove Patrol C Shift, pulled over the man at around 2pm on Friday September 15 in the Frankley Hill Lane area of Frankley.

PC Ryan Clarke, based in Bromsgrove, said: “While checking documents, the driver attempted to insure his vehicle with day insurance while stopped by police.

“We checked the details and called the relevant insurance companies who confirmed he had tried to take out the policy at the roadside 15 minutes into the 20-minute traffic stop in an attempt to make us believe he was already insured.”

The man was issued with a traffic offence report for using his mobile phone while driving and for having no insurance, and his car was taken away by a police recovery vehicle.
