THOUSANDS of people flocked to Belbroughton Scarecrow Festival which made a welcome return at the weekend.
More than 100 straw-stuffed creations were dotted around the north Worcestershire village for the two-day event which drew in around 20,000 visitors.
Committee member Rob Pagett said traders “practically sold out of stock towards the end” of the festival, held on September 23 and 24, which he said was a “massive success having been away for three years” due to the Covid pandemic and death of Queen Elizabeth II last year.
He said: “Saturday was a fantastic day for weather and Sunday just a bit of rain but stayed mild. The atmosphere was fantastic.
“We had over 100 scarecrows in the end and based upon feedback overall people had a lovely time.
“We couldn't ask for more.”
The festival, which had a Kings and Queens theme, also included a host of activities and attractions including live music, fairground rides, inflatables, food and drink stalls, tombolas, craft stalls, church bell ringing, tours of the church tower and a scarecrow trail.
Admission was £20 per car and the money raised will be donated to village charities and good causes.
The total collected and how the money will be distributed among the groups has not yet been determined.
A wurzel version of King Kong displayed in Belbroughton High Street was named best scarecrow.
