Parkside is leading the way in going green with the installation of brand-new solar panels.

Work has now started on the latest addition to the Bromsgrove District Council headquarters as it aims to reduce carbon emissions and become more environmentally friendly following the climate emergency declared in 2019.

The building on Market Street is covered with scaffolding and the installation is set to be completed over the next couple of weeks.

Bromsgrove District Council cabinet member for climate change, Steven Colella, said: “I am delighted that the council’s buildings will be making an impact as we work together to address the climate change emergency.

“As a council, I hope we can continue to influence carbon emissions outside of our own activities by keeping our residents informed about efficient and affordable choices which can save energy and money for them at the same time.”

The Parkside office lights have already been replaced with LED lighting along with the water feature in the courtyard now being powered by solar.

There are also solar panels in place at the Bromsgrove depot and Artrix building.

Council leader Karen May added: “These latest works demonstrate that we are still leading by example.”
