The awards are widely recognised as the most prized accolades in the care sector with hundreds of entries from every region each year.

Denise Fay was awarded the title of ‘Dementia Carer of the Year’ for her sensitive and creative approach including bringing customers joy and comfort with her singing.

Samantha Ward, who is also a mental health first aider, earned the ‘Home Care Registered Manager Award’ for her “exceptional proficiency and dedication”. This includes as an advocate for care as a career where progression is a real possibility.

Katy Thompson won the ‘Care Assessor/Planner Award’ for her commitment to providing the very best care and ensuring she gets to know every person who comes through the door at Bluebird Care.

The wife of one of Ms Fay’s customers, ‘John’, said: “We would like to congratulate Denise on her winning the regional award for dementia care.

“Since coming to look after John, it has opened up a new world for him and he looks forward to the banter between them.

“She certainly has the amazing touch of a fantastic carer. It lights up John’s day and we would like to thank her for being there when needed.”

As regional winners, the trio will now compete in the national finals taking place in spring next year where ten regional winners will go head-to-head for the national titles.
