A primary school in Bromsgrove has achieved the national centre of excellence status for its thriving inclusivity.

Lickey Hills Primary School and Nursery was honoured to receive the Inclusive School Award from the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) team.

The IQM recognises the hard work of schools that go the extra mile to ensure all students have equal opportunities regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, achievements or background.

Deputy Head Teacher and Inclusion Lead, Mrs Helen Williams, said: “We are so thrilled that the work we do at LHPSN, which ensures that we can include every member of our school community, has been recognised by the IQM team.

“Our staff work hard to support the needs of children and work closely with their families and the wider community to make sure that every child can thrive and reach their potential in an inclusive, vibrant and exciting setting.”

The school was particularly praised for its warm and nurturing atmosphere as well as its dedicated staff and excellent facilities that allow everyone to feel welcome in the community.

The awarding body also highlighted the school’s commitment to enhanced learning including sensory circuits, SEND support and its developed Forest School area and pond.

New Head Teacher, Mr David Dathan, said: “Lickey Hills Primary School is a really special setting in which every member of the school community feels a sense of belonging.

“We celebrate the successes of the children as well as holding them to account to aspirational expectations. Ultimately, though, the children are supported regardless of their individual needs or circumstances to achieve their full potential.

“This is what is recognised by the IQM’s centre of excellence award.”
