Children eligible for free school meals in Bromsgrove will be able to access a range of activities during the Christmas holiday.

As part of the national Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF), Bromsgrove Sport and Leisure Centre will host an array of free activities, including Clip n Climb, swimming, arts and crafts and multisports, accompanied by free lunches.

The centre, which is managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Bromsgrove District Council, is aiming the ensure that children eligible for free school meals can enjoy an active and engaging Christmas break whilst promoting physical well-being and social interaction.

Contract manager at Everyone Active, Wayne Desmond, said: "We are thrilled to be part of the national HAF programme in Bromsgrove, providing children with the opportunity to participate in high-quality activities regardless of their background or financial circumstances.

"Through these free Christmas holiday activities, we aim to create an inclusive environment where children can have fun, develop new skills and stay active during their break."

The activities are designed to appeal to different age groups and interests with each child receiving a balanced meal every day to provide the energy needed for the activities.

Bromsgrove District Councillor, Steve Colella, said: "We were delighted to secure the funding to provide these holiday sessions which we know are so valuable to families.

"The Bromsgrove Sports and Leisure Centre is a massive part of that as one of the four places we've got providing 'HAF it' activities for us this winter.

"Alongside the Youth and Community Hub, Young Futures Academy and Independent Design Centre, we're bringing benefits from the Ready Steady Worcestershire programme to people in Bromsgrove District."

Sessions will take place on Tuesday, January 2, Wednesday, January 3, Thursday, January 4 and Friday, January 5.

Each session will run from 11am until 3pm each day with parents and carers encouraged to register at www.haf-it.co.uk/activities as places are limited.
