A DOG owner who allowed her barking pets to cause a nuisance to neighbours has been hit with a £1500 fine.

The noisy dogs were once recorded making 1500 loud barks over four hours and on another occasion barking over 2000 times in eight hours last year.

Officers from Worcestershire Regulatory Services (WRS) had served a noise nuisance abatement notice on Olivia Johnson, of Beehive Close, Catshill, following complaints from neighbours.

On Monday, January 15, Worcester Magistrates heard that noise monitoring equipment had been installed in a neighbour’s property on two occasions and personal visits made by Environmental Health Officers to witness the noise.

During this time, the court heard that evidence was obtained of the notice being breached on three separate dates from May to June 2023.

Magistrates were told that on one occasion, noise monitoring equipment picked up nearly 1500 loud barks over a four-hour period, and on another over 2000 in an eight-hour period.

WRS said that despite repeated warnings to control the noise, Ms Johnson failed to keep her dogs quiet and formal action was taken.

They also said that she failed to attend a formal interview with WRS following the witnessing of the breaches.

The 41-year-old was fined a total of £1500 at Worcester Magistrates’ Court and ordered to pay a combined victim surcharge of £600 and costs of £250.

Following sentencing, Bromsgrove District Councillor Kit Taylor, whose portfolio covers Worcestershire Regulatory Services, said: “Our residents have the right to live in peace in their own homes and we will take action against those who make life unbearable for others.”
