A kind-hearted 12-year-old schoolboy is "over the moon" after a Bromsgrove business generously helped fix his food bank van.
Isaac Winfield, the brainchild behind Friends of Isaac's Food Bank, was left devastated after his beloved van broke down last Thursday (February 1).
The van is vital in helping deliver goods to his food bank sheds across Redditch which supports struggling families in the aim of tackling food poverty in the town and wider areas.
His mum and director of Friends of Isaac's Food Bank, Claire Chapman, said: "We had been sorting out one of the units and I was on my way back with Isaac when the van just wouldn't start.
"We called out a recovery company and managed to get it back home, but we were then quoted £1,000 to replace the turbo. It was an astronomical price and the food bank just couldn't afford it.
"I had to sit down with Isaac and talk to him about the possibility of needing a new van, but he was heartbroken. He loves his van and is really attached to it so the prospect of it never being repaired was devastating."
After putting out a post for help on Facebook, the team at the foodbank was overwhelmed with positive responses from the community including a donation of £500 towards the repairs.
But the generosity didn't stop there with Euro Parts in Bromsgrove coming to the rescue to donate the turbo and Mark's Cars offering to carry out the repairs free of charge.
Ms Chapman said: "We had a phenomenal response to our appeal with Wayne from Euro Parts quickly getting in touch with the management team to ask if they could help. His boss Tristan then quickly passed the request through to the regional manager to secure the turbo.
"Wayne also contacted Mark's Cars who have been so good with Isaac and agreed to fit the turbo for free.
"Isaac was absolutely over the moon. He even went down to meet Mark at Mark's Cars and gave him a massive hug to say thank you. He loved being able to ask lots of questions about the cars in the garage too."
Mark Elston from Mark's Cars took the van to be repaired on Friday (February 2) and hopes to have it finished and back on the road later today (Monday, February 5).
Ms Chapman added: "We are so reliant on the van to help transport our food around the different sites and it lets the community know we're around to help.
"It was so scary to think that we wouldn't have it, so I want to say a massive thank you to Wayne and Tristan, Mark and everyone who has donated. I also want to thank the man from Redditch Borough Council who stopped to help when the van broke down.
"I didn't get his name, but it meant a lot to us that you rushed over to do all you could to help."
