A two-vehicle crash in Catshill has left one man injured and caused significant damage to fencing around the war memorial.
West Mercia Police were called to a collision at around 9.11pm last night (Thursday, February 8) at the junction of Stourbridge Road and Meadow Road.
One of the cars had collided with the metal fence surrounding the war memorial with the adjacent lamppost also damaged.
In a post on social media, the chair of Catshill and North Marlbrook Parish Council, Bernard McEldowney, said: "Two vehicle Road Traffic Collision this evening, at the junction of Stourbridge Road/Meadow Road/Westfields, Catshill.
"One vehicle has collided with the metal fence surrounding the war memorial. The fence and adjacent lamppost were damaged.
"Thankfully no specific damage was caused to the actual war memorial."
Leaders from the 6th Bromsgrove Scout Group also attended the scene to assess the damage and helped make the site safe with a barricade.
The area around the memorial is now closed to residents until the repair work is carried out.
A spokesperson for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal Catshill and Lickey End said: "Following an accident at the Memorial Roundabout, the Memorial area and fencing have suffered severe damage. This area has now been fenced off and is OFF LIMITS to the community until repair works have been carried out.
"Thank you to RBL Poppy Appeal Catshill & Lickey End and Catshill and North Marlbrook Parish Council for their swift response and a big thank you goes to members from 6th Bromsgrove Scout Group for attending late at night to make the site safe."
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We were called to a two-vehicle collision on the Stourbridge Road in Catshill, Bromsgrove at around 9.11pm yesterday evening (February 8).
"One man was reported to have suffered minor injuries."
Bromsgrove officers also confirmed that the fence looks as though it sustained damage in the collision.
