Barnt Green 198-8 (24pts)
Wolverhampton 197-6 (5pts)
Barnt Green won by 2 wickets

BARNT Green grabbed victory with one ball to spare, as the league leaders continued to stamp their authority on the Birmingham and District League Premier Division.

Kieran Rees bought Green back from the brink with a brilliant 47 as they completed a difficult run chase at Cherry Hill Road on Saturday.

Dougie Brown's side had bowled and fielded impressively, doing well to restrict the visitors to a total of less than 200.

Wolves put up a fight in the middle of the innings with Aaron O'Connor making 46, while there was a half century for Eral Anderson.

Brown finished with figures of 3-52 from 18 overs, and Mehraj Ahmed, Phil Mann and Paul Coverdale took a wicket each.

Green's top order suffered an early collapse, however, despite a well-made 42 from Nathan Newport.

Gavin Shephard (5), Richard Hall (6), Stuart Shephard (4) and Coverdale (9) fell in quick succession.

After making 22, Brown was removed by a superb catch from Anderson off the bowling of Gary Williams (3-33).

It was left to Mehraj (31) and Rees to steady the ship.

Both were out when Green were in sight of their target, and in a tense final over, Mann (11 not out) was able to apply the winning runs.
