STOKE Prior Crown Green Bowling Club recently held their AGM with Geoff Mycock being re-elected as chairman and Dennis Harris as secretary.
John Russell was unanimously appointed as president in succession to Bob Hale who died at the end of last year.
In memory of the hard-working and much-loved member of the club, a hawthorn tree has been planted on the edge of the green.
The bowlers, who play at Stoke Prior Sports and Country Club on Westonhall Road, are holding an open day on Saturday, April 6 from 12 noon until 3pm.
Anyone who has played before or is new to the sport will be welcome with club members on hand to offer advice and coaching.
The event is open to all ages, both men and women, and bowls will be available for anybody who does not have a set.
Further information is available from Harris on 07747 873460.
Crown green bowling is quite informal and thought to be more challenging than lawn or flat green bowls.
Last year the club won three promotions and this season members will play in eight competitive leagues between Monday and Saturday as well as cup competitions.
Several just play socially with a popular and well-stocked bar available at the club.
