A main road in Bromsgrove has been temporarily closed again this week until mid-May.

Development work by Bellway Homes is currently underway placing Whitford Road under a full road closure whilst the work is carried out.

Whitford Road is closed from the roundabout with Millfield Road and Fox Lane with the closure continuing down to the northern access of Deansway.

A diversion is in place but drivers are being warned to expect delays.

The roadworks started on Monday, April 8 and are set to continue until Friday, May 17 according to the Worcestershire County Council website.

In a post on Facebook, Traffic Bromsgrove said: "Roadworks are commencing again on Whitford Road from today (April 8).

"This will involve the closure of Whitford Road from the roundabout with Millfield Road and Fox Lane, right down to the northern access of Deansway. Access to Echells Close, Timberhonger Lane and Deansway will only be possible from Kidderminster Road.

"The works being carried out include new junctions, drainage, utilities works, footways, toucan pedestrian and cyclist crossing, street lighting and carriageway surfacing."

Before the latest closure, the road had previously been shut from Monday, February 19 until Friday, March 22 due to the ongoing highway improvement works.

During the work, Traffic Bromsgrove has also warned residents that there will be no pedestrian access within the closed area and Whitford Road will be a no-through route.

The development work by Bellway is set to be carried out in four phases with phase two set to last until May 24.

Residents should expect ongoing road closures in the area until mid-August as phases three and four on the new development get underway.
