TWO curry houses in Worcestershire are in the running to be named one of the country's top restaurants.

Gurkha Majestic Dining in Droitwich and Gurkha Imperial Dining in Bromsgrove, both run by the same family, have been shortlisted for the English Curry Awards 2024.

This year could be the Droitwich branch's third year of winning the title after securing it in 2022 and again in 2023.

The branch's success led the team to open another restaurant, Worcester Road, in Bromsgrove, which is a contender for New Restaurant of the Year.

Kamal Dhakal, manager at Gurkha Imperial Dining, said: “It feels good to be a finalist and our hard work by the front of the house and kitchen team have been recognised.

"This encourages us and persuades us to do even more for our lovely customers who dine in, and we would like to thank all our lovely guests for their support throughout the year."

Anuj Dhakal, manager of Gurkha Majestic Dining, also shared the company's secret to success.

He said: "The secret behind our win is the quality of our food, and the service provided by our front-of-the-house staff is liked by all our lovely guests."

In its thirteenth year, the English Curry Awards aim to recognise the “hard work, determination, impeccable service and efforts” of the country’s best curry establishments.

A spokesperson for the English Curry Awards said: “These Awards promise to be a memorable event that honours the dedication and hard work of the nominees and celebrates the rich tapestry of flavours that the curry industry brings to the English culinary landscape.

The Awards provide a platform to applaud the exceptional efforts of those who have made significant contributions to the curry sector and continue to elevate the nation’s love for curry.

"We would like to congratulate all our finalists and wish them all the best of luck.”

The team will find out if they won on August 19, 2024.
