A YOUNG golf ace has qualified for a prestigious junior competition.
Talented Jake Jeff-Johnston, of Barnt Green, will play in the Faldo Futures Final at The Belfry, Sutton Coldfield, on August 28, the day before it hosts the Betfred British Masters.
The youngster secured his place following a recent boys' 11 to 12 years win with a gross score of three-under-par in a Sir Nick Faldo Futures regional qualifying event at Sunningdale Heath, Ascot.
Jeff-Johnston, who met golf legend Faldo at the competition, finished ahead of Lucas Taylor on -2 and Edward Lloyd-Nolan on +1.
The contest welcomed 63 of the best seven to 12-year-old golfers from the south of England.
A well-conditioned golf course was challenging at times but equally as fair for all competitors.
Special guest Faldo said it was great to see so many young children playing in his events and pursuing the game of golf.
Faldo, now 66, was ranked number one on the Official World Golf Ranking for a total of 97 weeks.
His 41 professional wins included 30 victories on the European Tour and six major championships, including three Open Championships and three Masters.
Last October, Jeff-Johnston became the British Junior Golf Tour under 12s champion having competed in events all over the UK against 101 other talented juniors.
The member of Bromsgrove Golf Academy has spent three years representing the Worcestershire county under 14s squad.
He was also part of the winning team in the 10-county under 14s championship while not losing a game in all his county events during the 2023 season.
