BROMSGROVE MP Bradley Thomas has held a meeting with the Revise A38 BREP group, who are campaigning to save trees from destruction.

The A38 Bromsgrove Route Enhancement Programme (BREP) includes improvements to junctions affected by congestion plus new cycling and walking routes.

The campaign group has been calling on Worcestershire County Council to think again over plans to fell trees to make way for the development.

Speaking following his meeting on Thursday, August 8, with the campaign group and councillor Marc Bayliss, cabinet member with responsibility for highways and transport on Worcestershire County Council, Bradley Thomas, said: “Although this is a County Council-led scheme, as your MP, my role is to ensure residents’ voices are heard in the spirit of making Bromsgrove an even better place to live, work and visit.”

Councillor Marc Bayliss, added: “I was delighted to be able to sit down and speak to residents about the BREP programme and the benefits it will offer to all those travelling in and around Bromsgrove.

“The county council remains open to ideas and suggestions on how we can make this programme even better.”

Worcestershire County Council has said that the BREP scheme will improve journey times for all road users and tackle congestion.

They said that the works on Stratford Road, which require the removal of a poplar tree, are "necessary" in order to widen and lengthen the approach, and exit lanes to Oakalls Roundabout.

The Revise A38 BREP group presented a petition with over 4,000 signatures to the county council asking for revisions to the scheme.
