An e-scooter has been seized by police after being illegally ridden on a road in Bromsgrove.
West Mercia Police said they wanted to remind the public of the laws surrounding e-scooters after the vehicle was seized and issued urgent advice to those considering using them.
This includes reminding the public that e-scooters are classified as motor vehicles under the Road Traffic Act so they must adhere to the same regulations as cars and motorbikes.
Insurance, tax and MOT are required to ride e-scooters on public roads and it is illegal to ride privately owned e-scooters on public roads, pavements or cycle paths.
Public use is only allowed on rented e-scooters as part of government-approved schemes.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "If you own an e-scooter, you can only legally ride it on private land with the landowner’s permission.
"Riding on public highways or pavements could result in your scooter being seized, fines, or penalty points.
"Please stay informed, stay safe, and know the rules before using an e-scooter."
