A COMMUNITY café has celebrated its first anniversary after a successful year.
Muntjacs Café, based at Blackwell Community Hall, has generated £5,000 in profits thanks to its team of volunteers.
The money has been used to buy new chairs, tables, and a top-grade barista coffee machine.
The café is run by more than 20 volunteers who have provided a thousand hours of free work to support the project.
Terry Pauley, the hall committee chair, said: "Thank you to all our wonderful customers, we love to see the café filled with people and have made so many new friends.
"Thank you also to our fabulous team of over 20 volunteers.
"We’re a ‘not for profit’ organisation and they all work for nothing."
The café opens from 10am to 2pm every Saturday and serves freshly ground coffee, tea, assorted chilled drinks, tea cakes, locally made cakes, and other occasional specials.
The community hall, located at the top of Greenhill, is run entirely for the benefit of the residents of Blackwell and neighbouring areas.
It hosts numerous classes throughout the week and can be hired for as little as £13 per hour for regular bookings.
Mr Pauley said: "If you’d like to volunteer, please get in touch or pop into the café and speak to one of our committee."
