A NINE-year-old boy has won a free family ticket to Blackwell Music Festival — just a year after his sister won the same prize.

Freddie MacGarrow was drawn from the hat after completing a loyalty card by taking part in games at the village’s summer festival.

His sister Freya won a family ticket through the same draw last year.

Organisers estimate the chances of two siblings winning in consecutive years were around 7,000 to one.

The ticket will give Freddie and his family entry to Blackwell Music Festival, which is taking place on Saturday, September 5.

The event will also provide a farewell celebration for the youngster before he moves from Barnt Green to Devon.

Freddie said he was looking forward to spending time with friends before leaving the area.

“I’m excited for the music, snacks, games, seeing my friends and having fun,” he said.

“Last year I really enjoyed the go-karts, waffles and playing with my friends.

"The Blackwell Music Festival is going to be good.”

The festival will again include free bumper-car go-karts, along with children’s activities, food stalls and live music.

Tickets are available through the Blackwell Music Festival website.

Bob Jefford, one of the organisers, said the event would bring together villagers and visitors for a family-focused day.

“Blackwell Music Festival will once again be a lovely, happy, family event with villagers and many more coming together to celebrate our community,” he said.

"The atmosphere is always a delight, with top quality bands performing a wide variety of music. And the bargain festival bar just adds to the bonhomie."
