TWO young ballet dancers have earned a place in a major production.
Nylah Dayus, 14, from Bromsgrove and Eadi Martin, 11, from Northfield, will perform in English Youth Ballet’s production of Swan Lake at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre after impressing during highly competitive auditions.
They will join an 80-strong cast of young dancers.
Nylah, who trains at Elite Performing Arts and attends South Bromsgrove High School, said: "I have been dancing since I was three years old and I have loved every second of it.
"Dance is the way I express myself and feel completely free. It’s the best way for me to clear my head and focus on just the movement and music.
"I’m at my happiest when I dance.
"I’m really looking forward to experiencing what it’s like in a professional environment. I’m hoping to build my confidence in rehearsals and onstage.
"I want to make the people who come and see me proud."
Eadi trains at Grazia Academy of Dance and attends King Edward’s Girls School.
She said: "I started dancing at age three, my mom said since I could stand up I have been dancing.
"Dancing makes me feel so happy. I have always loved how dancing makes me feel free to express myself. I believe if you dance with your heart your feet will follow.
"Dancing with EYB is a dream come true. I am so grateful for the opportunity EYB have given me.
"I hope to develop my knowledge and understanding of ballet, working with professionals and like-minded people, making memories and having fun along the way."
English Youth Ballet was founded in 1998 and offers young dancers the chance to perform alongside professional principal dancers in full-length ballets.
Tickets for Swan Lake can be purchased from the Wolverhampton Grand box office or online via the theatre's website.
