A REWARD has been offered for the safe return of a camera or memory card containing the last pictures of an RAF pilot before he died.

The family of Capt Nick Walsh are appealing for the public’s help to trace the lost camera, a wedding gift to Nick and wife Sam, in 2007.

His funeral was held at St John’s Church on Friday, July 23, and from the service the family went to the Slug and Lettuce pub, in High Street, then onto the Bujon Indian Restaurant, in Worcester Road. A Bromsgrove Taxi Company cab was then used to take people home.

Sam’s mother, Joy Rudge, said the camera - a red Casio in a black case - was not seen after visiting the Slug and Lettuce and, as they did not realise the camera was lost until they had returned home, it could have been lost anytime after then.

Significantly, the pair renewed their vows in hospital three days before Capt Walsh died, and the camera’s memory card had these pictures of the day, the last taken of him by the family.

Mrs Rudge said: “Understandably my daughter is distraught and I appeal to whoever found it to please return it to the Advertiser offices.”

She added that despite the sentimental value of the camera, it was more important they got the memory card back.

The family have also put up a reward for the return of camera and memory card.

Anyone who can help can either visit the Bromsgrove Advertiser/Messenger offices, in High Street, or post the memory card through the letterbox if the offices are closed. Alternatively, call the newsdesk on 01527 837000.
