DROITWICH chairman Rob Bray has outlined his dream of building a grandstand at the club.

Bray announced his ambitious hopes to add a 250 seater stand at the Glynn Mitchell Memorial Ground at the end of last week.

It is hoped by the club's supremo that the seats would open up a host of new opportunities to the club, such as hosting women's international games.

He said: "At the moment the stand is only an idea, but I really want to get the ball rolling on this.

"We have been devoting a lot of time to the team, but we have to concentrate on realising the true potential of the club.

"A stand would bring more people in to watch and also attract more players to the club."

"We have facilities which are the envy of all others, but what we ideally need is a grandstand.

"The construction of a stand has been a dream of mine and of many others I know, but that's all it has been. I want to action the dream so that it becomes a reality."

England's women team use Droitwich as a training base, but improvements to the ground would mean that it passes the RFU's rules and make it eligible to host international matches.

Bray though emphasised that the project was right at the start and had a long way to go before reaching fruition.

He said: "At the moment we need to think carefully bout size and location. We're at the start of a big project that will have a lasting effect on the club.

"We need to look into planning permission and draw up some plans, but they are further down the pipeline."

Once plans for the grandstand are in place the club will begin the fund-raising process.
