A MAN currently serving a life sentence for the murder of a pensioner in 1994 allegedly confessed to the killings of three other men the same year, including Trevor Bradley from Ludlow.

Birmingham Crown Court heard Robin Stanislaw Ligus, 59, originally from Shrewsbury, is said to have admitted killing antiques dealer Mr Bradley, 53 as well as Brian Coles, 57, and Bernard Czyzewska, 36, in the county in thespace of seven months in 1994. He was convicted of the murder of Robert Young, 75, in the same year and is serving a life sentence.

At an earlier hearing Mr Justice Colman Treacy ruled that Ligus was unfit to plead to the three murder allegations following medical and psychological reports.

The jury has heard that Ligus had confessed to the 1994 murders and described himself as "a natural born killer".

It must determine whether the defendant was responsible for the acts leading to the deaths of the three people named in the charges.
