FOLLOWING the recent rally in Redditch, which saw 1,500 people attend to show their support for the Save The Alex campaign, the Redditch MP has met with hospital bosses.

Karen Lumley recently met with senior clinicians and health executives to discuss potential changes to the Alexandra Hospital as part of the NHS shake-up.

While there she also talked about the Save The Alex campaign, led by resident Neal Stote.

Talking about the meeting Mrs Lumley said: "I met with senior clinicians at the Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust and expressed my deep concern at the proposed changes to services at the Alex hospital.

“I strongly spelt out it is vital that the trust makes it absolutely clear to the people of Redditch which services will be remaining at the Alex hospital after the Joint Services review has been conducted.

“I will continue to do all that I can as the MP for Redditch to strive for vital services to remain at the Alex as the campaign moves forward.”

The NHS is in the process of a joint service review which could involve the possibility of closing the accident and emergency department, the entire hospital itself and the centralisation of maternity services.

The next stage of the review will see shortlisting of options before full consultation begins in November.
