THE members met and were able to enjoy a much better weather evening than the previous month.
We were pleased to note that this reflected upon the greater number of members attending the meeting.
Chairman Betty Long greeted three visitors and hoped they would enjoy the evening along with the 39 members. Our speaker was introduced. John Tearne came to entertain us with his monologues and music all from a bygone period of some 40 to 50-years-ago.
They were all very funny and made good entertainment. There were jokes from the days of Jack Warner, Arthur Askey and as recently as the Two Ronnies. He also brought along his guitar and a wind instrument and played music and songs from the 1950s and even earlier.
All very good entertainment and we all enjoyed it very much. Betty Long thanked him after an hour of laughter. Any women interested in joining the Spadesbourne Ladies Club are asked to call Brenda on 01527 874463.
