A BROMSGROVE school pupil is on her way to her dream career as a broadcaster journalist after fronting a campaign for a lasting sporting legacy following the Olympics Games.

St John’s CE Middle School pupil Tilly England, from Chaddesley Corbett, has been chosen as the face of the Community Games programme, which aims to get people to embrace the Olympics and get involved in activities in their own communities.

The 13-year-old has already made her broadcasting debut alongside BBC Midlands Today presenter Nick Owen, which is proving to be a hit on YouTube and Facebook.

Tilly said: “I feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to take part in the Community Games viral. All my friends and family have watched the video and are immensely proud of me.

“Taking part in the viral has really cemented my ambition to go on to become a broadcast journalist.

“In the meantime, I can’t wait to attend a Community Games event in my area.”

The events are the brainchild of Legacy Trust UK and are being delivered by the YMCA and the County Sports Partnership Network (CSPN).

It is hoped Community Games, which will see more than 1,000 free events take place across England, will leave a lasting legacy after the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Lee Mason, chief executive of the CSPN, said: “We are delighted Tilly England is on board fronting our Community Games campaign.

“The Community Games are about uniting families and communities and we really hope as many people participate in the games as possible.”
