THE new Miller and Carter is set to open in Bromsgrove tomorrow – and the Advertiser has been given a sneak peek inside ahead of its big launch.

The steakhouse, which replaces the popular Toby Carvery on the Birmingham Road, Marlbrook, opens at midday on December 7 after a near £500,000 revamp.

General manager Steve Hind believes the popular chain will fill a “big hole” in Bromsgrove.

He said: “There is a big hole in the market here for a Miller and Carter.

“There was almost a ‘will it or won’t it’ scenario as to whether we would open or not here as there were rumours for about a year and then one opened in Washford Mill in Redditch.

“It is fantastic that there has been such an excitement around it coming to Bromsgrove.

“If you live within the region you were having to travel quite far to the others whereas now we have created the local steak house for Bromsgrove people.

“We did a rehearsal night last night for the public which sold out in about 48 hours which for me is great.

“The feedback was really good and they have been really impressed with the refurbishment, the atmosphere and the individual fittings.

“The reaction has been really positive and people are excited to see what has changed.

"It has cost in excess of £500,000 but it is money well spent."

The restaurant seats 188 guests with space for couples and small groups on its popular booths, and round tables for larger groups – just in time for a busy festive period.

Mr Hind added: “Opening at Christmas adds a little bit of excitement.

“The Christmas tree is up and festive menus are out. We are taking Christmas bookings and of course New Year as well so it is an exciting time to be opening.

“It’s going to be a challenge but the team are up for it. We’ve got around 50 new staff in which has given opportunities to a lot of young people and local people within the area.

"We would invite people to book online over the festive period and come and spend Christmas with Miller and Carter!"
