BROMSGROVE traders have joined forces to put the town's High Street on the map.
Representatives from the town’s shops and cafes got together after Bromsgrove District Council informed them of a competition, Great British High Street 2015.
At the inaugural meeting last week, attended by bosses from Lorita’s Bakehouse, Boots, Munching Moles and Bromsgrove Cobbler, the new Town Team agreed to enter the competition, which could see them winning cash to invest in the High Street.
The aim is for the team to attract other members, and for the new group to lead on projects and initiatives to enhance the High Street and brighten up the empty shops in the town with displays, a traders' day and a community clean up.
Lorita Cornish, who runs Lorita’s Bakehouse, has been appointed chairman of the group.
She said: “We have a wonderful High Street and we should be proud to shout about it.
"I hope more traders get on board so we can work together and make it even better.”
Bromsgrove District Councillor Rita Dent, whose portfolio covers High Street and regeneration, said: “As a council we wanted to kick this off and of course will be the background to provide help where needed – but now it’s over to the traders and I look forward to seeing a Better Bromsgrove High Street.”
Traders who want to get involved in the project can pop into Lorita’s Bakehouse or speak to Bromsgrove Cobbler Martin Connellan.
