MP Sajid Javid has welcomed the government's pledge to invest an additional £1.3billion in schools, claiming it will put an end to the 'postcode lottery for school funding' in Bromsgrove.
Education secretary Justine Greening made the announcement last week, promising to protect funding for children with higher needs and introduce a new formula to allow local authorities to invest more money in schools within their district over the next two years.
But Labour's shadow education secretary Angela Rayner called the pledge 'nothing more than a sticking plaster', claiming per-pupil funding would still drop unless further action was taken.
Speaking after the announcement, Mr Javid said: “I’m proud that this government is committed to ending the postcode lottery of school funding – so all children receive the education they deserve.
"It’s important that every child has the best start to life."
